ADVANCE SUSTAINABILITY IN SPORTS WITH ALUMINUM RECYCLING
When Kroenke Sports & Entertainment partnered with Ball Corporation as their Official and Exclusive Sustainability Partner, they announced the ambitious goal of transiting Ball Arena to aluminum beverage packaging for 100% of the venue’s concessions. To engage fans and create an efficient means of collection, Ball Arena came to Max-R to design the venue’s new waste and recycle stations.

After learning more about the Ball Arena’s partnership and goals, the Max-R design team went to work to create a functional, cohesive waste and recycle solution to meet all of the organization’s needs.
Concept
To support Ball Arena’s sustainability objectives, they needed easily accessible, intuitive to use recycle stations placed throughout the facility. To ensure consistency, the waste and recycle bins are all gray or metallic in color, feature restrictive openings, clear and concise stream IDs, and consistent messaging for optimal diversion and stream collection.
Visualization
After approving initial concepts and making sure all stakeholders were on the same page, the Max-R 3D rendering and design team honed in on the function and aesthetics of the bin. Interchangeable logo application was utilized to support the Arena’s sponsors and to connect fans with the organization’s sustainability program. Waste and recycle bin header boards were added for clear and consistent messaging and stream diversion, and gallon capacities were considered for each unique location.
The Results
Ball Arena’s recycle stations check all the boxes. The gallon capacities are large enough to support high-traffic games and events without taxing their janitorial staff, waste streams were customized to ensure collection of the Arena’s aluminum recycle streams, and waste and recycle bins placed throughout the facility with quick and clear messaging help to drive compliance and ensures the organization meets its lofty sustainability goals.
